    10 AM Brian Smith "Resilience"

    Brian Smith "Resilience"
    10 AM - 11 AM

    • Date: July 12, 2020

“Three Resiliencies: Jumping Back, Jumping in Place, and Jumping Forward” Resilience literally means “jumping back” (resilire, from the Latin). We use it to describe the ability to survive a set back or crisis, possess the flexibility to return to normal. Resilience can come in three forms: jumping back after a setback or crisis to where we were before. It can also means jumping in place – just getting through the crisis as we are to survive. However, it can also mean learning from the crisis so that we can jump forward to something new. All three of these resiliencies are present among Americans today as we face crises of the pandemic, economic recession, and police murders of people of color in our country. Which form of resilience do we have?
