Our Power to Bless - Rev. Suzelle Lynch
    10 AM - 11 AM

    • Date: August 7, 2022

Meeting ID: 917 6982 5212 Passcode: 245404 Wise teacher Henri Nouwen says that to give a blessing is to affirm another person’s belovedness -- to touch their original goodness. In our tense times, when we are angry with so much that is happening politically, economically and climate-wise, the practice of blessing can bring much-needed healing. Bio: The Rev. Suzelle Lynch (she/her/ella) served as a UU parish minister for 27 years in Brookfield, WI, and Bremerton, WA. Suzelle is known for her commitment to anti-racism and dismantling white supremacy culture. She is a co-founder of Black Lives Matter to Wisconsin UUs and antiracist citizens’ organization Tosa Together. She served on the UU Ministers’ Association’s (UUMA) Committee on Ministry for Anti-racism, Anti-oppression, and Multiculturalism and as President of the Central Midwest UUMA chapter. Suzelle lives in Janesville, WI with her partner Tom Ness, and her son Adlai Kim is studying opera in Milwaukee.

This event is sponsored by WUSSAN To view the presentation at home you can Join Zoom Meeting with Link https://tinyurl.com/2p9hfe5c Meeting ID: 938 2217 6420 Passcode: 269172 Or Join this Event via Zoom by going to WUSSAN's calendar at https://wuusan.org/calendar/ Mike McCabe, who calls himself a commoner, to learn how to talk to strangers and discover what we may have in common. “The more I talk with people on the “other side,” the more I’m convinced we’re not nearly as divided and polarized as we’re told. What could bind us together is far more substantial than what drives us apart About Mike McCabe: Mike got his start in life milking cows on the family farm in central Wisconsin. For 15 years he led the independent watchdog group Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. In that role, he blew the whistle on wrongdoing by elected officials and earned a reputation as one of the nation’s best political money trackers. He ran a spirited underdog campaign for governor in 2018. Before that he started the grassroots group Blue Jean Nation and authored the book Blue Jeans in High Places: The Coming Makeover of American Politics, named one of the best books of 2014 by The Progressive magazine. He appeared in the documentary films Citizen Koch (2013) and Pay2Play: Democracy’s High Stakes (2014). His latest book is Unscrewing America: Hints and Hopes from the Heartland (2020).

    8:30 AM Choir Rehearsal

    Choir Rehearsal
    8:30 AM - 9:30 AM

    • Date: August 28, 2022

The choir will practice next Sunday (8/28) at 8:30 AM. The Mingling of the Waters Sunday is on Sept. 11th. This is our official kick-off to the new program year and we would like our choir to sing. We have chosen a relatively simple but rather unknown hymn and four part harmony seems very doable. Please join us and help kick off the year right!
