Rev. Karon Sandberg: Why Do We Need Heroes?
    10 AM - 11 AM

    • Date: October 2, 2022

Meeting ID: 990 0992 0072 Passcode: 100675 Why Do We Need Heroes?- Rev. Karon Sandberg So often when we think of courage we think about heroic people who step up and do something extraordinary. Movies show us all kinds of superheroes who always save the day. Our news feeds show us ordinary folks who step up in times of tragedy. In contrast, we rarely see ourselves in this role. Let's admit it, life has been pretty out of control lately. What if we saw how heroic it was to just get out of bed some days or work a job we no longer enjoy or love someone who is challenging to love? Join us as we look at why heroes are so appealing and how we might see our own super powers within our daily lives.

WUUSAN UU the Vote Postcard Sending Party
    10 AM - 12 PM

    • Date: October 15, 2022

Open Circle will be participating in the National UU the Vote Weekend of Action by gathering on Saturday Oct. 15 in our kitchen area to send pre-prepared postcards to a mailing list of voters likely to share UU values. The lists, made up of apartment dwellers under 50, including many women of color, in key swing districts in Wisconsin, was compiled by our social justice partner Wisdom We will handwrite the address and a *short*, non-partisan note (Example: “Thanks for Voting!”) and put postage on LOTS of postcards while enjoying coffee, breakfast treats, perhaps a progressive song list, and Great company! You are welcome to bring donations of cash or a check towards the postage. (Because of time, we are just doing this personally as volunteers, so bring a blank check and the on-site leaders will let you know how to fill it out. By the way, WUUSAN paid for over half of the postage. Thanks WUUSAN. (Rev. Jim is the VP of this organization.) In the words of the late John Lewis, let’s make “Good Trouble” together! Please contact Paisley Harris at harrisp@uwosh.edu or 920-251-2373 with questions.
