Meeting ID: 954 2378 0272 Passcode: 445786 Yank the Universe in a Slightly Less Terrible Direction - The Rev. Kendyl Gibbons coined this provocative phrase to describe the purpose of "hopepunk", a current literary trend. As we again anxiously face election uncertainty, we can turn to hopepunk for "militarized" optimism which demands a better, kinder world by truly caring about each other as hard as we possibly can.

10 AM Who was Jesus of Nazareth? Changing Our Perception

Who was Jesus of Nazareth? Changing Our Perception
    10 AM - 11 AM

    • Date: November 13, 2022

Meeting ID: 983 5535 8702 Passcode: 609817 - Benjamin Cruz-Uribe: Most people raised in any Christian denomination think of Jesus in the terms of Christ, Lord, and Divine Savior. However, for the first two hundred years of early Christianity, there are very few "facts" about Jesus of Nazareth. There are no physical descriptions of the man in the New Testament or other early church writings. The first pictures came centuries later. Little is known about the man himself and who he really was. What we know today about Jesus the man are blended together with the myths, misconceptions, and wishful thinking that surrounded the divine Jesus Christ. In order to truly understand the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, we must understand that he was a man just like everyone else. We must see him for who he really was, not what time and imagination have made him into. We must change

RE Focus: Traveling the Path of Changing Thanksgiving We explore the path of changing how we celebrate and think about Thanksgiving. We acknowledge the pain and suffering that Indigenous peoples experienced, and that white supremacy culture made invisible in the traditional Pilgrims and Indians myth of Thanksgiving. We move to change the holiday into a celebration of gratitude and giving thanks. We celebrate and honor wisdom from Native Heritages this month as well as how we can learn and change our relationship to the earth.

    10 AM - 11 AM

    • Date: November 20, 2022

Meeting ID: 971 6071 3528 Passcode: 226763 We know that change is inevitable in our days, it is our constant companion. Sometimes change is a welcome force in our lives, a moment of excitement, a new beginning, a time of promise and possibility. Other times, change is incredibly unwelcome in our lives, the ending of a job, or a relationship, or a dream that we cherished. Change is complicated and often full of uncertainty. As we continue our month of contemplating change, we will explore how we learn to live into and through these transformative times.
