Rev. Karon Sandberg - Letting You Really See Me
    10 AM - 11 AM

    • Date: March 5, 2023

Meeting ID: 959 3604 6162 Passcode: 104537 Allowing others in to see the real me, the one behind the position, title and facade seems difficult. You may feel this too. We all create facades or wear bits of armor with others, too afraid to show ourselves fully. But research professor, Brene Brown says that showing our true selves is actually courageous and nothing but pure strength. We’ve had it wrong, all along. Join us as we explore this shift in accepting vulnerability as a strength, not a weakness. Rev. Karon Sandberg is a retired hospice chaplain and one of our favorite visiting UU ministers.. She continues to speak monthly at various UU congregations and serves Fox Valley UU Fellowship as a community minister. She is also working on a book about the lessons her patients have taught her about living and dying.

RE Theme: The Vulnerable Risk of Friendship - One of the biggest and most vulnerable risks we take is friendship. We need to trust that they will respond in kind when we signal, we want to be friends. We need to trust that they will not hurt us once we’ve become friends. So come, let us leap into and explore the vulnerable ability to say, “I like you.” Contact Rev. Jim with questions at jimuumin@gmail.com, 715-572-0455.

    • Date: March 12, 2023

Meeting ID: 927 4906 5454 Passcode: 703474 Surviving the Windigo: How Vulnerability Strengthened Community Against All Odds From 2013-2014, during the coldest winter of the past century, a coalition of tribal citizens, environmentalists and neighbors occupied treaty protected lands in the Penokee Hills of northern Wisconsin. Their act of civil disobediance successfully halted a multinational mineral corporation's plan for mountaintop removal in the Lake Superior watershed. Vander Puy describes their story of vulnerability and survival in his book Water Protectors: The H.E.L.P. Campaign to Save the Penokees. Bio: After studying philosophy in college, Nick Vander Puy has worked in a variety of livelihoods - Teamster, Public Radio Reporter and Fishing guide. He currently leads a seasonal life, guiding, gathering wild rice, fishing, hynting, netting and making maple sugar in northern Wisconsin.

    10 AM - 11 AM

    • Date: March 19, 2023

Meeting ID: 978 4098 1800 Passcode: 811093 A long time Open Circle Fellowship member, Sylvia is excited to be here on this planet to witness and assist our transition from thousands of years of lives in a dark and challenging world into a planet of enlightenment and collective unity consciousness, more fully integrated with our divinity. She now recognizes that we are inextricably joined with each other and our planet, which is moving with us into ascension to a higher vibration. Discussion Question: Assuming we would be moving into a compassionate new world order, what would you like to see changed in our society and what might that look like? (e.g. government, education, corrections, safety net…)? Note: We will be celebrating March Birthdays & Anniversaries at social hour.

RE Theme: Vulnerable When We Hope - We explore the moments when life asks us to hope. As all of us know, hope is most certainly a vulnerable act. There is no guarantee that things will work out as we wish. And yet, we also know magic things happen when we vulnerably take that risk and say to ourselves, “I trust it will happen.” Any questions, please contact Rev. Jim at jimuumin@gmail.com or 715-572-0455.
