Often we appreciate blessings more if we consider what life would be like if "that" had never happened. For example, "what if my parents had never met?". Pondering such "counter blessings" reminds us how we have become who we are and may help us focus more on the blessings in our lives.

Rev. Kelly Crocker: To Bless & Be Blessed.... 10 AM - 11 AM
Date: June 12, 2022
To Bless & Be Blessed in Return by Rev. Kelly J. Crocker.
We offer blessings to one another here in this community quite often. We confer blessings on our youngest ones during child dedication ceremonies and then when they come of age. Couples are blessed during wedding ceremonies, and during memorials, we pause to bless this one now gone from us. John O’Donohue wrote, “The beauty of blessing is its belief that it can affect what unfolds.” We’ll explore the power of blessing and how, throughout our lives, this simple act calls to us and strengthens us, and brings us back to who we are and to each other.
BIO: The Rev. Kelly J. Crocker has served as a minister at First Unitarian Society since July 2001. She was raised in Scranton, PA and after receiving her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies at East Stroudsburg University, she attended seminary at Louisville Theological Seminary in Kentucky. It was during her time in Louisville that Kelly was introduced to Unitarian Universalism, and subsequently, her call to serve our faith.

In June we celebrate the blessing of living free from fear. Juneteenth honors the freedom from slavery for African Americans and Pride honors the freedom to live authentically for LGBTQ+ people. Living free from fear is essential to living into our full potential, both as individuals and as a society. It is a blessing which only comes through justice.

Poetry Sunday is a long time tradition for the Green Bay fellowship. This year, we embrace our consortium friends at Open Circle and invite two of their poetry lovers, Barbara Lukas and Daniel Belzer, to join David Clowers and Mark Goldstein from GBAUUF to share poems on the theme of The Joys of Nature. All attendees are invited to bring a poem to share during Fellowship time in lieu of a discussion. This could be one from a much-loved author or one you wrote yourself.
